Set in the heart of Baltimore, MD, the famed 1840’s Ballroom has a reputation for being a fabulous and classic venue.  But this gorgeous wedding, photographed by DC photographer Shelby Leigh, takes the charm to a whole new level.

I was fortunate enough to catch up with Shelby and get some insider feedback on what she’s now calling one of her favorite weddings to-date (we all know its actually impossible to ever pick a favorite wedding).

C: The bride’s shoes are just adorable! Did she include many other unique touches that caught your eye?

S: The brides sister was kind enough to rent her all the amazing, real jewelry for her to wear (the earrings, ring and bracelet). It really gave her that special sparkle and made her look extra glamorous!

C: This venue looks absolutely charming. What was your favorite thing about     shooting there?

S: It is!  This is my second time there, I love the outdoor courtyards and the fact that its right in the heart of Baltimore!

C: As a photographer, you see tons of weddings but I’m sure each one has a memory that sticks with you. What would that memory be for this wedding?

S: The huge wedding party!  There were 10 bridesmaids and 10 groomsmen, the biggest I’ve had to date!  It definitely made photos challenging, but fun!

 C: I’m sure you also see many touching ceremonies. Do you ever get a little choked up or shed a tear? (As I’m sure I would every time)

S: I am a huge sap and get choked up at at least one point during every wedding, but for me its usually during the first dance!  At this wedding, one of the bridesmaids sung to a guitar solo during the brides processional which was a really beautiful, personal touch.

C: If you have to choose just one shot from this wedding as your favorite one, which would it be?

S: The shot of them walking down the aisle after being pronounced husband and wife, they both look so excited!
